Processor: Sentinel-1: SLC Interferometry (12 days)

The Sentinel-1: SLC Interferometry (12 days) processor for polarimetric Sentinel-1 L1 SLC input data calculates the interferometric phase, interferometric amplitude and coherence over a time span of twelve days. This interferometric product also referred to as Sentinel-1 L2 CARD-INF12 product can be used to analyze changes of the land cover such as the growth of crops or monitor the movements of the Earth’s surface caused by landslides or earthquakes.

The Sentinel-1: SLC Interferometry (12 days) processor is pre-configured and can be easily applied by registered users to any Sentinel-1 L1 SLC data on individual demand via the CODE-DE Data Explorer.

The processor is based on the established tools and processes of the Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP) for calculating interferometric products from Sentinel-1 data.

Processor details

  • Input data:
    • Sentinel-1 L1 SLC IW (Master Image)
  • Other data used for processing:
    • A data sets acquired 12 days before the master image and with the same orbit and footprint (slave images)
    • Precise orbit information from ESA
    • Copernicus DEM (GLO-30)
  • Methodology: Detailed information can be found in the links below

A terrain correction is performed for both the master and the slave images. Afterwards the data are processed with the corresponding GDAL tools in the overlap area.

Note: If the process does not find suitable data as slave images within 12 days, the processing is terminated with a corresponding error message.

Bands

The following bands are produced:

  • coh_ifg_VH_12
  • Intensity_ifg_VH_12
  • Phase_ifg_VH_12
  • coh_ifg_VV_12
  • Intensity_ifg_VV_12
  • Phase_ifg_VV_12

Access and use

Depending on the environment and intended use, there are the following possibilities to execute the processing:

  • EO Browser: -
  • Data Explorer:
    • Data Catalogue: CODE-DE or CREODIAS
    • Search and select required Sentinel-1 L1 SLC input data -> Add to Workspace
    • Go to Workspace - > Select required datasets and Add to processing center -> Go to Processing center
    • Select processor: Sentinel-1: SLC Interferometry (12 days)
    • Select required datasets and Create processing order
    • Progress of orders can be monitored in Processing status
    • The processed data is added to the CODE-DE data catalog in the Sentinel-1 CARD-INF12 collection.
